Mr. Reuben Lawrence Turner age 88, of Garysburg, NC, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jackson, NC.
Mr. Turner was born September 4, 1927 in Branchville, VA, the son of the late Joshua and Margaret Turner. He was also predeceased by his wife, Barbara Birdsong Turner, two brothers, Jasper Turner and Ernest Turner and two sisters, Martha Dunlow and Ruth Barnard and a grandson,
Dale Turner.
He is survived by his children, Ann Shaw of Gaston, NC, Lana Turner of Manchester, Tenn, Bobby “Punk” Turner and his wife Rhonda of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Barbara “Deanie” Davis and her husband Keith and Kaye Pope and her husband Bailey all of Faison’s Old Tavern. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. His sister, Rose Edwards Beacham and her husband Marshall of Littleton, NC, his brothers, Bill Turner and his wife Rachel of Seaboard, NC and Leslie Turner and his wife Judy of Emporia, VA. Many nieces and nephews and all the special people at Northampton Nursing and Rehab who took care of him for the past eleven years.
A graveside service will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins, VA with Rev. David Foster officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 14, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC.
